Proudly I can proclaim myself the leading radio protagonist giving John and Patsy Ramsey the hot foot for as many years as I could.

One of the low moments in an otherwise spotless career (winky, winky) was standing in the parking lot of the Boulder County Justice Center on the afternoon of October 13, 1999 to observe Boulder’s lead crime fighter Alex “Sergeant Schultz” Hunter.

These words, said by Boulder’s Caped Crusader, have been burned in my brain: “I and my prosecution task force do not have sufficient evidence to warrant a filing of charges against anyone who has been investigated at this time.” That of course was in the aftermath of a grand jury, pushed by then-governor Bill Owens, to look into who murdered child pageant star JonBenét Ramsey.

Since that day the Ramsey supporters, many leading members of the Denver media community, paid mouthpieces (aka attorneys) and John and Patsy’s Christian publishing houses continue to believe that they are as innocent and clean as the new-driven snow. And guess what? Because of hard work by Daily Camera reporter and very well-informed Ramsey investigator Charlie Brennan, suddenly like a Siegfried and Roy show, the truth appears.

Alex Hunter apparently refused to prosecute John and Patsy even though now we know the grand jury voted to indict these two “parents” in 1999.

The beef was known as child abuse resulting in death — a class two felony with a potential 50 years in the joint. That’s what the grand jury wanted.

The list of villains in this case is almost endless. How can we forget the woman who cleared the Ramseys, the next DA Mary Keenan Lacy and her sidekick in the media CU Professor Michael Tracey, (the only possible professor on that campus who could make Ward Churchill look good)? Remember they are the ones who produced and groomed their suspect John Mark Karr — who was in Bankok, Thailand, having women’s breasts implanted in himself — and came back to Boulder at the perfect town’s taxpayers’ expense. Does anyone see a relationship between French existentialist Albert Camus and any elected official in Boulder, Colorado. OMG. You just can’t make this feces up.

And if that wasn’t bad enough you always have to wonder how Paula Woodward broke that story first — wink again.

Also, if you all remember Boulder Police Chief Tom Koby who seemed to spend more time lecturing the media while shaking a copy of the Constitution at his press conferences and helping to destroy the careers of many of his officers instead of doing his real job. Next, and enough said, total laydown Alex Hunter. But if you would, this is more a story about lawyers and power and watching very wealthy people dance away from what they were clearly responsible for doing.

And just to compare and contrast, wealthy white people in Boulder versus African Americans in Aurora. I’m sure you all remember Aaron Thompson and his live-in girlfriend, the deceased Shelley Lowe. They happened to be African Americans living in Aurora and Thompson murdered his daughter little Aaroné. Note to self: No father should have his daughter’s name turned into a French verb, kill her and get away with it. For the uninformed, JonBenét was Patsy Ramsey’s attempt to Francophile daddy’s name, John Bennett, as Aaron Thompson became Aaroné Thompson.

While Aaron now sits in Canon City, John Ramsey writes Christian books and runs for public office and has remarried. Aaron is staring at the walls in Canon City and John Ramsey told The Denver Post that Brennan’s recent disclosure is “just more drama.” What a creep.

Here are a couple more villains for you while we’re at it: Paula Woodward from Channel 9 asking Patsy such hard hitting questions as “How’s your son Burke doing?” This was another brilliantly staged part of the investigation — when they hand-selected media members to meet with the Ramseys at a hotel room with security at the door. The only condition to the media people is that you can’t ask about the murder of their daughter. WTF? Are you going to ask John and Patsy about the Euro or the NAFTA Agreement? You’re pulling my wire. And then of course the entire newspaper itself, The Rocky Mountain News, now dubbed by anyone in the know in this case, “The Ramsey Mountain News.” Those people made The Denver Post relationship with Rep. Joe Lopez look like Citizen Kane.

Always remember the night of December 25, 1996, into the morning of December 26, 1996, and all the cast of characters, media idiots and high-priced lawyers who did everything they could to block any justice in that poor little girl’s murder. The search of the house, the refusal of the Ramseys to speak with the police and every single thing they did and the money they spent got them off.

By the time December 28, 1996, rolled around the Boulder police were informed that the Ramseys had nothing further to say and would answer no questions. All this tragically does, is show the complete mishandling of this brutal murder by the Boulder police, Alex Hunter, and as someone else wrote, “A textbook case of trial and manipulation by the mainstream media.”

And now of course it’s over. My former colleague Craig Silverman told me that there were three years on this beef to charge them. John dances on the head of a pin and Patsy is now dead. I welcome any debate on this story, I welcome all criticism. As the book title said, Perfect Murder, Perfect Town. The people in Boulder could not believe that anything like this would happen in their town and their elected and appointed people did everything they could to make sure that that title came true.

I feel so bad for that little girl who became nothing but a show dog for a couple of really twisted people in a city that has its own foreign policy and has declared itself a nuclear-free zone. So if the commies ever dropped a bomb on Denver, or anywhere else in Colorado, it would never affect Boulder.

Maybe someplace that little girl can rest, knowing that at least 12 people in Boulder wanted to try mommy and daddy for killing her. Take care.
